UBJP sweeps SGA in historic 1st BARMM Parliamentary Elections

SPECIAL GEOGRAPHIC AREA, BARMM — The United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP) posted a commanding victory across the Special Geographic Area (SGA) in the inaugural Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) parliamentary elections held September 14, 2026, capturing nearly 79 percent of the region's party-list vote and both of its parliamentary district seats, according to data from the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

In the party-list race, the UBJP — the political party of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) — secured 80,455 votes, or 78.96 percent of the regional party vote, Comelec data showed, far outpacing its nearest rival, the Bangsamoro Federalist Party (BFP), which garnered 14,087 votes (13.83 percent). The Raayat Democratic Party and the BARMM Grand Coalition (BGC) trailed with 725 votes (0.71 percent) and 146 votes (0.14 percent), respectively, while other regional parties combined for 6,476 votes (6.36 percent).

The party's dominance extended to the SGA's two parliamentary district seats, both of which went to UBJP candidates. In the 1st District, Mansor Ebrahim won with 29,061 votes (62.57 percent) against BFP's Butch Malang, who received 17,386 votes (37.43 percent), Comelec figures showed.

In the 2nd District, UBJP's Elaysa Enalang Latiban won a five-way race with 20,954 votes (37.03 percent) out of 56,584 votes cast, per Comelec data, defeating independent candidate and outgoing Bangsamoro Health Minister Kadil Sinolinding Jr., who received 20,199 votes (35.70 percent), and BFP's Dulia Sultan, who took 13,662 votes (24.14 percent). Independent candidates Allanuddin Hassan and Kenindia Sinagandal received 1,749 votes (3.09 percent) and 20 votes (0.04 percent), respectively.

Voter turnout across the autonomous region reached approximately 84.34 percent, Comelec data indicated, with the SGA registering one of the higher counting completion rates in the unofficial parallel count, at approximately 98 percent on election night. A reported blast near a polling location in an SGA town did not disrupt voting.
