MSSD extends P22.87M seed capital to 1,199 Lanao del Sur residents
LANAO DEL SUR — The Sustainable Livelihood Program in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (SLP-BARMM) has released P22.87 million in Seed Capital Fund (SCF) assistance to 60 associations with a combined 1,199 members across the province.
The funds were distributed in two payout activities held in different areas of Lanao del Sur from September 30 to October 2.
In the first payout, 37 Sustainable Livelihood Program Associations (SLPAs) with 728 members from six municipalities, including Marawi City, received about P10.75 million.
A second release of more than P12.12 million went to 23 SLPAs with 471 members from nine other municipalities in the province.
Beneficiaries included households exiting the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) under Code 14, as well as qualified beneficiaries referred by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD).
"This assistance is more than capital because it is an investment in self-reliance, empowerment, and sustainable opportunities for Bangsamoro families and communities," said Jaslin Masbud, Provincial Social Welfare Officer of MSSD-Lanao del Sur 2nd District.
The SCF is intended to help qualified beneficiaries and organized groups establish or strengthen livelihood enterprises and build sustainable sources of income.
The SLP is a nationally funded program implemented in the region by SLP-BARMM under the supervision of the MSSD. -- With reports from Bangsamoro Information Office
