Socsksargen young Moro join the 2nd Muslim youth summit

A total of 170 Moro youth from the provinces of South Cotabato, Sarangani, Sultan Kudarat and cities of General Santos, Koronadal and Cotabato joined the Second Muslim Youth Summit held at Aryaad Resort, Brgy. Bawing, General Santos City on March 23-26, 2016.

The activity with the theme "Empowering Muslim Youth on the Challenges of the New Generation" was organized by the Federation of Muslim Students Association. 

It aims to increase the awareness of the Moro youth on the issues and concerns confronting them and know what they can do to surmount those challenges.

The organizer tapped resource persons from the academe, Islamic scholars, active youth leaders, peace advocates, medical practitioners, and a lawyer. 

The Ulama discussed The Challenges of Muslim Family in a Secular Society, Islamic Ethical Values: Best Practices for Practical Guidelines, The Implication of Muslim Sects in Islam, and Islamophobia and Extremism.

The participants learned the major issues being faced by the Muslims and its consequences from the discussion on the topics “The Current Plight of the Muslim Youth, Ill Effects of Smoking, Drugs & other Haram, The Ethics of using Computer & Social Media, and Facts on HIV and STD’s.”

To further capacitate the summit attendees, the topics “The Role of Muslim Youth in Islamic Da’wah, Youth Leadership & Community Development, Empowering Muslim Youth in the Context of Sports, and Peace Building” were also tackled.

The importance of Halal certification and effects of global warming were also imparted to the participants.

Parts of the summit were workshops, games and other teambuilding activities.
