Madrasah facilitators lauded for supporting Zero Open Defecation drive in Sarangani

ALABEL, Sarangani Province -- A health official of Sarangani lauded the Madrasah (Islamic school) facilitators for their support to the Zero Open Defecation (ZOD) drive in the province.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Arvin Alejandro thanked the Madaris facilitators for taking part in the eradication of open defecation which is practiced in some remote villages in Sarangani during the midyear evaluation of the programs implementation of the Sarangani provincial government held at Tierra Montana in General Santos City last Thursday (Aug 4).

Last April 7, around 40 Madaris facilitators of Sarangani underwent Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) Training in Maasim, this province, facilitated by the Provincial Health Office.

The participants learned the importance of sanitation and the consequences of open defecation practice.
After the training, the Madaris Facilitators echoed to their respective communities the learning they acquired from the ZOD drive training.

Ustadz Abdulbayan Laguialam, Project Manager of the Madaris for Peace Project of the provincial government of Sarangani, hoped that the Moro communities of the province will attain the ZOD record sooner.

He urged the participation of the parents of the Mulits (learners) of the 49 Madrasah Centers in Sarangani to support the ZOD campaign.

Verse 222 of Surah Al-Baqara states “For Allah loves those who turn to Him constantly and He loves those who keep themselves pure and clean.”
