Draft BBL may be forwarded to congress by Monday: Abella

The draft Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) may finally be on its way to Congress by Monday, August 14, said Presidential Spokesperson  Ernesto Abella in his reply to Mindanews query on the whereabouts of the draft BBL.

“The documents are already with the Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO) and may be submitted (to the two houses of Congress) by Monday”, Mindanews quoting Abella saying.

Tawi-tawi Rep. Ruby Sahali, Chair of the House Committee on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity told members of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC) on August 9 that the draft BBL had not been transmitted to the House, the popular online paper quoting Rep Sahali saying.

The BTC members also paid a courtesy call on House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, Jr.  who also informed them that the draft BBL has not reached them, said the report by Mindanews.

Meanwhile, on August 11,  Maguindanao Rep. Bai Sandra Sema, the Deputy Speaker for Mindanao, told MindaNews that the draft BBL was “still awaiting official transmittal from the Palace.”
