Mindanao Multi-stakeholders’ Leaders vow full support for Bangsamoro Organic Law

Cotabato City –In a “Forum on Understanding the Bangsamoro Organic Law” (BOL) on August 8, at the Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex in Cotabato City, for the turn-over of R.A. 11054 (BOL), leaders of Mindanao’s stakeholders all but none vowed to support the newly enacted Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) which they said would bring a dignified and just peace in the Bangsamoro Homeland.

During the ceremony, GPH Peace Implementing Panel Chair USec Nabil Tan turned-over R.A. No. 11054 to his counterpart, Mohagher Iqbal, Chair of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front Peace Implementing Panel (MILF-PIP) witnessed by about seven hundred individuals representing various CSOs, NGOs, youth, women, and Indigenous Peoples.

The official hand-over came after the ceremonial signing and presentation of the R.A. 11054 or BOL by President Roa-Rodrigo Duterte to MILF Chairman Al Haj Murad Ebrahim on August 6, 2018 at the Malacañang Palace.

Representing the Civil Society organizations and the youth, League of Bangsamoro Organizations (LBO) President Prof. Hashim B. Manticayan expressed his support to Bangsamoro Organic Law.

In his message, Prof. Manticayan said; “We understand that BOL is not a perfect law to us as some provisions of peace agreements were still not reflected.  However, BOL is a good law to start with as some vital foundations of Bangsamoro struggle for their right to self-determination are well enshrined and we believe that the future Bangsamoro government will provide great opportunities to Bangsamoro people to pursue their political, social, economic and cultural prosperities parallel to Filipinos in metropolitan and even developed Asian neighbors”.

“BOL is a blood of thousands of Moro martyrs, who lost their lives, for the youth and the future generations in order to live a peaceful life,” he said.

“BOL is sacrifices of widows and parents who lost their loves ones and sons and soldiers in pursuit of peace, thus it is imperative to set aside their vested interest instead they must join hand and hand to give a BOL a chance to prosper in order to at least compensate the blood of martyrs and soldiers as well as the sacrifices of widows and parents, he added.

Prof. Maticayan also enjoined all Cotabatenos to vote yes during the plebiscite. He said that  “the inclusion of Cotabato City to the BARMM is tantamount to significant increase of investments, establishment of more infrastructures or facilities for the new government, additional budget derived from taxes, block grants, and development funds, creation of more jobs especially to the poor and marginalized sector, improved social services, influx of projects and programs from international donor agencies, improved peace, attraction of more visitors and tourists, and many more. On the other hand, the exclusion of Cotabato City is the total opposite of all these opportunities”. He stressed out.

“Finally, the BOL is now on our hand. If we work together in dribbling, passing and shooting this BOL, it will make us overcome all challenges ahead of us and we will surely win the game. However, if we let this BOL to the hands of few and corrupt people, it will miss the basket and we will end up losing the game. Let’s continue to pray to the Almighty Allah for his continuous blessings and guidance as we journey in this important milestone of our history in building the Bangsamoro nation”. Prof. Manticayan said.

Manticayan is one of the invited guests who delivered message of support during the program.

Among those who delivered their respective message of support were Sultan Nasroden B. Ador, Vice Chair, 16 Royal Houses of Lanao, Miss Froilyn T. Mendoza representing Indigenous Peoples (IPs), and Alim Basher Manalao, representing the Religious Sector.
