UMYO holds 3rd Peace Conference: We Love Jesus, We are Muslims

Cotabato City – The 3rd Peace Conference entitled: We Love Jesus (PBUH), We are Muslims 2018 with a theme: "A True Message of Peace towards Unity and Prosperity" was conducted by the Union of Muslim Youth Organization (UMYO) at Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex, Cotabato City on December 22, 2018 attended by more than 600 Muslims and non-Muslims.

UMYO is a union of united youth Muslim organizations in Cotabato City and nearby municipalities with a united voice of "Unity: Our Mission".

Engr. Zubair Guiaman, the Chairman of UMYO said during his opening statement that the "road to peace is never an easy path."

"The misunderstanding between Muslims and non-Muslims can be solved through peaceful means like what we are doing now," Engr. Guiaman emphasized.

The Special Guest of the Peace Conference was Bangsamoro Mufti Sheikh Abuhuraira Udasan.

It was said that the position of Jesus (peace be upon him) in Islam: Islam is the only non-Christian faith that obliged every Muslim to believe on the existence of prophets as part of the Six (6) Articles of Faith, and Prophet Jesus (Peace Be Upon Him) is one of them, whom Allah revealed to him the Holy Book Ingel.

Jesus is Prophet Isha Alayhi Salaam in Islam.

One cannot claim to be a Muslim if he does not believe in Jesus (PBUH); he was one of the mightiest Messengers of Allah (SWT); he was born miraculously, without any male intervention, he was the Messiah translated Christ (PBUH); he gave life to the dead with God’s permission; and he healed those born blind, and the lepers with God’s permission.

"Islamic Jurisprudence on Christmas and New Year" was the topic delivered by Sheikh Jamael "Abu Zubair" Usodan, who is currently teaching at Almaarif Educational Center, Inc. Baguio City and one of the Islamic duats (propagators) at Discovery Islam, a da’wah center located in Baguio City.

Sheikh Abdul Jabbar Ansao Montaner, Founder of Islamic Unity and Brotherhood (IUB), delivered his inputs on "Who is Jesus in Islam and Christianity?"

One may ask, if both Muslims and Christians love and respect Jesus (PBUH), where exactly is the parting of ways? The major difference between Islam and Christianity is the Christians’ insistence on the supposed divinity of Jesus Christ (PBUH).

A study of the Christian scriptures reveals that Jesus (PBUH) never claimed divinity. In fact, there is not a single unequivocal statement in the entire Bible where Jesus (PBUH) himself says, "I am God" or where he says, "worship me".

In fact, the Bible contains statements attributed to Jesus (PBUH) in which he preached quite the contrary. The following statements in the Bible are attributed to Jesus Christ (PBUH): "My Father is greater than I"[John 14:28] and "My Father is greater than all"[John 10:29].

Sheikh Abdulhadie B. Gumander, Supervisor of Foreign Activity at Kuwait Philippine Culture Center and Chairman, Fundamental; and Advisory Council at Cotabato Islamic Heritage Center, also shared his "Message of Peace towards Unity and Prosperity".

"Coming together is ability, working together is progress, and staying together is success," Engr. Guiaman said.
