BARMM Chief Minister prays for safety of Bangsamoro people from threats of pandemic this Ramadhan

As Muslims around the world observe Ramadhan which started April 24, the Chief Minister of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) prayed for the safety of the Bangsamoro people from the torment of the corona virus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
In his Ramadhan Message on Friday, Chief Minister Al Haj Murad Ebrahim said, “May we all have a meaningful observance of Ramadhan, and may Allah (SWT) keep ourselves, our families and communities safe from the threats of the pandemic.”

To date, Covid-19 has infected 2,902,708 people in more than two hundred countries across the globe and killed 202,179 majority elderly. 

According to the Department of Health on Friday, the Philippines has a total of 7,192 cases and the death toll is now at 477.

Al Hadj Murad, also chairman of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, expressed thanks to the Almighty for bestowing blessings to the Bangsamoro people - providing the opportunity for inner reflection and self-discipline.

He said that Ramadhan, the blessed month, is the time to sacrifice and devote oneself to worship Allah (SWT).

The chief minister noted the how Ramadhan will be observed differently nowadays because of the Covid-19 pandemic. He assured that the Bangsamoro government is doing its best to ease the pain and suffering of its people in this difficult time.

He said that the Bangsamoro government through its Inter-agency Task Force on Covid-19 has been supporting health workers and frontline personnel through immediate augment augmentation of medical supplies and equipment.

“We have also been providing massive relief operations and other forms of assistance to the mostly affected families and sectors,” the chief minister said.

The MILF chairman believes that the holy month of Ramadhan will unite the Bangsamoro people towards achieving their common goal.
