‘Oplan Moleh’ helps ferry stranded students in Tawi-Tawi back home

COTABATO CITY — ‘Oplan Moleh’ helped in ferrying more than 200 stranded students in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi to Mapun Island of the said province who sailed with two local motor boats or “lantsa”, Saturday, May 2, and safely returned home.
Oplan Moleh is a program of MSU TCTO Task Force COVID-19 which helped Mindanao State University (MSU) Tawi-Tawi-Tawi students back to their respective Island communities.

The students are currently studying at MSU Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography, Mahardika Institute of Technology, Notre Dame of Bongao, Pangasinan High School, Tawi-Tawi School of Arts and Trades, at Tawi-Tawi Regional Agricultural College.

Prof. Glenda Baiddin Orozco-Abdul and Jama Mapun Youth College Association (JAMAYCA) who initiated the ferrying out of students  from Bongao to Mapun Island processed the clearances with the Philippine Coast Guard and the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO).

Prof. Orozco-Abdul, who also hails from Mapun asked the office of Atty. Maisara Latiph, member of the Bangsamoro Parliament who provided funds to charter local vessels bound for Mapun Island.
 
Along with Atty. Latiph were Mayor Suraida Muksin and SB Member Rambie T. Sadjiril, who provided support by providing the necessary funds and coordinating with other concerned LGU officials and agencies. 

According to a report received by Luwaran, Mayor Muksin personally met with Provincial Health Officer Dr. Laja and Bongao Mayor Jimuel Que for the said program.

The Tawi-Tawi Task Force COVID-19 and Focal Person, Mobin Gampal, Vice Governor Tati Ahaja and Provincial Executive Secretary Atty. Dayang Dayang Khadija Baguinda were instrumental in granting clearances for Oplan Moleh and for supporting MSU-TCTO’s programs during this pandemic. 

A report said that, the Provincial Task Force and Chancellor Mary Joyce Z. Guinto-Sali had provided food packs, hygiene kits, and bags containing basic goods to the students to bring home to their families.
