Former BIFF fighters undergo skills training

The training that started on Sept. 28 is being conducted by the Ministry on Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) and the Ministry on Interior and Local Government (MILG) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
Minister Naguib Sinarimbo of the MILG said “the training will enhance the skills of the former BIFF fighters and increase further the viability of the livelihood packages that we will provide them so that we may improve their lives and those of their families and communities.”
“The trainees are beneficiaries of the ‘Tulong ng Gobyernong Nagmamalasakit (TUGON) Project’ of the MILG that provides humanitarian intervention to former combatants to help them transition to civilian life,” Sinarimbo said.
Sinarimbo, who is concurrently the Spokesperson of the BARMM relayed to the trainees the message of Bangsamoro Chief Minister Ahod ‘Al Haj Murad’ Ebrahim who said:
“I am very glad to see you cooperate with this initiative. I know it will not be easy.”
“The Ministry, through the Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Program, shall provide more opportunities to our Bangsamoro learners to reach their aspirations,” MBHTE Minister Mohagher Iqbal said.
Iqbal said, “the Ministry is here to assist you on this vital journey by providing accessible education.”
The MBHTE and the MILG will recommend the trainees to become part of the skilled workers of the Ministry of Public Works (MPW) after they shall have completed the training.
