METRO MANILA, (13 November 2020) -- Decommissioned Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) combatants, their families and communities will soon gain access to rural health services after the government signed a tripartite agreement on Wednesday for the construction of a rural health clinic equipped with a birthing facility.
“We are looking forward to the contribution of this health clinic and birthing facility in our MILF communities. The national government does not stop in fulfilling our peace agreements despite the challenges our nation currently faces because of the pandemic,” said Presidential Peace Adviser

Carlito G. Galvez Jr who was among the signatories of the agreement.

The construction of the PHP 57.5M health facility is in line with the government’s commitment to fulfill the agreements contained under the socio-economic development aspect of the Normalization Track of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) .

Specifically, the Normalization Program aims to help decommissioned MILF-Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (MILF-BIAF) combatants transition into civilian lives and facilitate the transformation of six government-acknowledged MILF camps into peaceful and productive communities.

Normalization is a process wherein communities can achieve their desired quality of life including the pursuit to a sustainable livelihood and political participation within a peaceful deliberative society.

It has four main components: (1) security aspect; (2) socio-economic development; (3) transitional justice; and (4) confidence-building measures.

The tripartite agreement was signed by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP), and the Ministry of Health of the Bangsamoro Government.
