Sibutu and sitangkai CSOS and association of livelihood cooperatives support call for BTA extension 2025

Hji. Joseph Saymaaran, Imam SabanaJaji and Alexander Bonajal, CSO heads in Sibutu and Officials of the Association of Livelihood Cooperative in the Municipality of Sibutu organized the community activity at Saymaaran Compound, Barangay Bidin, Sibutu on March 27.
Staff from the Office of MP Prof. Abdulla A. Ahang along with officers of CSOs and officer from the BLMI who acted as resource persons gave updates about BARMM Governance and its current programs for Tawi-Tawi province.
Dr. Salim Yusop, a CSO Officer and activity Convener delivered his message on Peace and Development in the Bangsamoro especially in Tawi-Tawi Province.
“Peace and Development is our shared vision and effort and we can only attain it through unity in purpose to advance the welfare of the Bangsamoro people,” Dr. Yusop said
Dr. Gabra Abdurahman, also CSO Officer and Provincial Information Director for SAMA Province in Tawi-Tawi said that the dividends of peace is gradually felt by the Bangsamoro and the gains of peace process and the ensuing peace agreement should be sustained by extending the BTA transition to 2025 in order to complete the implementation of the normalization tract embodied in the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL).
“The Bangsamoro people need to have real change in socio-political aspects that may uplift our living conditions. We are expecting that under the BARMM, real transformation happens and that corruption is curbed,” Pah KadirIdris, a Fisher man said
Another Resource Person, Mr. Tirso Sulanting Tahir, BLMI officer, and also CSO Officer encouraged the participants to be participative in peace building and to join the call of CSOs for extension of BTA transition to 2025.
Tahir also explained the concept and practice of cooperatives as encouraged by the CDA-BARMM for Bangsamoro people to be self-reliant by making use of their idle lands.
“In our Tawi-Tawi province alone, aside from other natural resources, we have also wide untapped lands viable for farming. Our food security is assured once we become productive in toiling our lands instead of relying solely on short-term financial assistance from government agencies.
The BARMM and its respective ministries are assisting our farmers in the region by providing necessary technical assistance through cooperatives and other forms of assistance that may alleviate the condition of both the farmers and Fisher folks,” Tahir said
The participants expressed their profound gratitude to the CSO officers and the staffs from the office of MP Ahang who took extra miles in an effort to empower and enlighten the Bangsamoro Communities on various issues and reaffirmed their support for BTA-BARMM extension to 2025.
