MOH-BARMM: Zero Covid-19 cases logged in 6 BARMM areas

COTABATO CITY – The Ministry of Health (MOH) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) announced on Monday, April 25, that the provinces of Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi, and the cities of Marawi and Lamitan logged zero Covid-19 cases since March 30.
In a press conference on Monday, Dr. Amirel Usman, MOH director-general, said that in the same period, there was no fatality due to Covid-related diseases.

The Bangsamoro Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) said that as of Monday, only three new infections were reported, two from Cotabato City and one in Maguindanao.

Usman said “the region has been categorized as low risk for the past weeks, even months, on several days we have zero new infections, sometimes we have 1 or 2 or three cases only.” 

“The region has 1,179,146 total vaccinated individuals, and those fully vaccinated numbered 836,000 or about 28 percent of the target population of 4 million in BARMM,” Usman said.

He also said that from May 5 to May 20, the Bangsamoro IATF will conduct vaccination activities in the cities of Marawi and Lamitan, and the provinces of Sulu, Basilan, Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur and Tawi-Tawi.

“In the 15-day special vaccination schedule, we exoect to inoculate 1,472,917 individuals,” Usman said.
