LGU Gensan implements the Musalla Ordinance

The ordinance was approved on April 29, 2022, authored by city councilors Franklin Gacal Jr., Lorelie Geronimo-Pacquiao (now City Mayor), Jose Orlando K. Acharon and co-authored by Jonathan T. Blando.
Jocelyn Lambac-Kanda expressed gratitude to the orientation participants for their attendance.
She also acknowledged the presence of Ms. Leonabell Velandria, who represented Robinsons Mall GSC, Mr. Romano's Vincent (Gaisano Mall), Julius Caesar Mauabad (STI College GSC), Mr. Roger Pauya (GFI College GSC) and the representative of Gensan Medical Doctors.
Also present to show support were the General Santos City Muslim Religious Advisory Council (GSCMRAC), Council of Elders, Salaam Police, and members of the Sharia Atas Bitiara.
The CMO-ICCAD, Business Permits and Licenses Division, and the Office of Building Officials are tasked with implementing this ordinance.
Atty. Gacal, now the Special Assistant to the City Mayor, highlighted the right of religious worship of every citizen citing, "…that concerns you and the Creator (Allah). I hope through this ordinance, we can give our brothers and sisters in Islam to practice the pillars of Islam."
GSC-MRAC Chairman, Ibrahim Andang Jr., expressed the importance of performing the daily obligatory prayers among Muslims.
"First, praying is obligatory. It is an important pillar in Islam for which you would be rewarded when you perform. Second, it strengthens our relationship with Allah (God)," he explained."We are hoping that you can help us implement this ordinance because this is really important for us Muslims and we are grateful to the local government because we can feel that it is for everyone," he added.
Andang further said, "By working together and by being united, we will be able to achieve true peace."
