SWC–MILF moves towards strengthening socio-economic development in BARMM

COTABATO CITY (January 6, 2023) — The Social Welfare Committee of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (SWC – MILF) is moving towards strengthening the socio-economic status of the members of the organization.
During the SWC General Assembly with the theme, "Renewal of Commitment for a Stronger and United Support to the Bangsamoro Cause” held at Darapanan, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao on December 30-31, 2022,   Engr. Aida M. Silongan, Chairperson of SWC said that the activity is part of the ways forward of the organization in strengthening the initiatives of different cooperatives to sustain their programs in uplifting the lives of revolutionary members so that they could live peacefully with their families.
 
MILF Ameerul Mujahideen, Al-Haj Murad Ebrahim, also the BARMM Chief Minister who authorized the conduct of the activity also graced the said gathering of Bangsamoro women who are beneficiaries of socio-economic program from the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). 
 
The Minister of the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) Mohagher M. Iqbal also attended the Assembly.

More than seventeen (17,000) thousand Bangsamoro women participated in the event which is aimed to present plans and ways forwards for strengthening of socio–economic development.  

The SWC chairperson presented the SWC’s  accomplishments for the year 2022.
According to her, the organized cooperatives of the SWC–MILF were given an opportunity to have their start-up capital in-order to develop the local products that are available in Bangsamoro communities to be displayed in the various markets. 
 
The livelihood program from her office aims to uplift the knowledge, skills, and income-generating status of their members and promotion of local products that can be found in  the Bangsamoro communities. 
 
She added that during the pandemic, they distributed a fair amount of ten (10,000) pesos to all the member cooperatives of the organization to produce a massive volume of face mask using sewing machines distributed by her office and other hygiene materials in support to ‘saving the lives of other people regardless of their race, tribe and identity.’ 
 
She explained that other SWC members received facilities such as multipurpose building with complete equipment for food processing and livestock for beneficiaries to raise them and sell in the market. 
 
She said that the children of mujahideen will be given priority in her scholarship program, so that they can go to school and expect to serve the institution in the future. 

The SWC head also committed that there will be more programs and projects from her office to implement that will support the next plans of member cooperatives. 

She added that the objectives of her program is not only helping the lives of member organizations but also helping the BARMM government to be felt by the people in the grassroots communities.
 
Engr. Silongan further assured that SWC will support the program of the Bangsamoro Chief Minister Ebrahim and his advocacy for Moral Governance. 
 
Lastly, she encouraged all the members of SWC cooperative to participate in promoting moral behavior and attitude through rightful implementation of their programs and projects because in that way, they can contribute to realizing moral governance and become a model as empowered women for change through the implementation of socio–economic programs that will lead to meaningful development in the BARMM.
