Public transport operators in BARMM told to comply with LTFRB rules

COTABATO CITY – The Bangsamoro Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (BLTFRB) under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) started its information campaign for public transport operators and stakeholders in the region to comply with their franchise documents.
“Our officers and staff will begin their work to convey (to the motorists) their role as operators to comply with the rules and regulations of the LTFRB,” said Datunor Abutazil, the Director of the BLTRB’s Land and Transport Services.

The information drive that began on Jan. 10 and will last until Jan. 12 aims to implement the mandate of the BLTFRB that is “to serve the Bangsamoro stakeholders with reliable and safe travel to the commuting public.”

Abutazil said the MOTC headed by Minister Paisalin Tago is giving passenger car operators a three-month (Jan-March 2023) grace period to comply with their franchise. 

“If possible, please consult our office to find out the details,” Abutazil said.

Another information drive will be conducted by the BLTFRB in the province of Lanao del Sur tentatively on January 16 to 18, and will be followed by the same activity the provinces of Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.
