EU donates coaster buses, LED wall to BARMM

COTABATO CITY – The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) received two coaster buses and a light emitting diode (LED) movable display wall from the European Union (EU) on Monday, Jan. 16, as part of the Support to Bangsamoro Transition (SUBATRA) program.
The LED wall, which will be given to the communications team of the Office of the Chief Minister (OCM), was worth P750,000 while each bus cost P2.2 million.

“The buses will be used by the BTA members especially on the conduct of public hearings and consultations for the passage of their remaining priority codes,” said the BARMM through the Bangsamoro Information Office (BIO).

Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim expressed his commitment “that the coasters will be efficiently used in delivering services to the Bangsamoro people.”

“May these coasters serve as a symbol of our mutual trust and strengthen our collaboration as we approach the fulfillment of the transition period of the BARMM government,” Ebrahim said.

Ambassador Luc Veron, Head of the EU Delegation to the Philippines, who handed over the keys of the buses to Ebrahim, said “Beyond these buses and information equipment, EU is confident that after the transition period we would have contributed in putting in place a more responsive and capacitated Bangsamoro Government exposing principles of democracy and inclusive governance as specified in the Bangsamoro Organic Law.”

Department of National Defense Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., who also witnessed the turnover ceremony, said “Peace process will always be in my heart and I promise to you, Chief Minister and all the members of the parliament, that all of my remaining life will be dedicated to achieving peace in the Bangsamoro.”

Galvez said he is still the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity aside from his being the DND Secretary.

Also present during the ceremony were members of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament and Senior Minister Abdulraof Macacua.
