Bangsamoro people mourns the demise of Shiekh Khalifa Nando, Wali of Bangsamoro

The Bangsamoro people mourn the demise of Shiekh Khalifa Usman Nando, the Wali of the Bangsamoro earlier today.
In his post at Facebook, Den Haron said, “It's heartbreaking to know about the passing away earlier today of our beloved Wali of the Bangsamoro, Shiekh Khalifa Nando, one of the founders and pillars of the Bangsamoro Jihad.”

“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajiun,” Member of the Parliament Atty. Suharto Ambolodto said in his post at Facebook. He described Shiekh Nando as the Guardian of the Bangsa Moro and one of the founders of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

“The Bangsamoro nation has, once again, suffered a great loss with the martyrdom of the Shiekh. May we, as a people, collectively recover from this trial and surmount further hardships that will come along our arduous journey,” he added.

“Ikalimo ka na kadnan kanu gabetadan nengka (May God love you in a place you are now), Sir Wali,” said a post from Rodjipay Mangulamas of the Bangsamoro Shari'ah Lawyers League of the Philippines, Inc.

“May Allah subhanahu wa taala grant you highest place in jannah, bapa,” said Rahib Nando.

During its inaugural session on March 29, 2019, the Bangsamoro Parliament appointed Shiekh Nando as the Wali, which serves as the ceremonial head of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Shiekh Nando also served as Supreme Head of MILF Shari’a Court.

The holder of the position as Wali has the legal ability to perform the following ceremonial functions: Moral guardianship of the region, preside over the opening of the parliament session, administer the oath of office, dissolve the Bangsamoro Parliament as advised by the Chief Minister, call for the election of a new parliament, and attend public ceremonies.
