To put things right, CM Ebrahim belies claim about Mangudadatu ally’s appointment as MENRE Minister

Camp Darapanan, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao – OIC Governor of Maguindanao Del Sur Bai Miriam Sangki Mangudadatu in a press conference, Wednesday, May 3 said that Sharifudin Tocao Mastura, an elected member of the Sanggunian Panlalawigan of the defunct Maguindanao province will  soon assume office as the region’s environment and energy minister in the BARMM.
Mangudadatu’s announcement surprised many especially among BARMM’s supporters, some of them expressed dismay and  opposition over the alleged impending appointment.

But BARMM’s interim Chief Minister Ahod Balawag “Al Haj Murad” Ebrahim  on Thursday, May 4 quickly belied Mangudadatu’s announcement that one of her political allies would be the next environment and energy minister of the special region, saying he was clueless about that supposed plan.

Macacua was former head of the environment ministry, but later on elevated to the position of Senior Minister in the office of the CM Ebrahim.

Macacua’s deputy minister, Akmad Brahim, took over as head of the BARMM’s Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy {MENRE).

In a report by Rappler on May 5, it described Mastura as 26-year-old Mastura, and a certified public accountant. He topped the 2022 race for provincial board seats of the now-defunct Maguindanao province under the Nacionalista Party (NP).

Ebrahim, however, said he was not privy to the supposed agreement about Mastura’s appointment, Rappler report also said.

Ebrahim also pointed out that the BARMM chief minister, and not the President, is the appointing power when it comes to positions in the regional cabinet.
