MRAC announces Sheikh Ibrahim Andang Jr as the official representative of Bangsamoro Darul Ifta for Sugoda Buayan

General Santos City, March 10, 2024 - The Muslim Religious Advisory Council (MRAC) announced on Friday (March 8) Sheikh Ibrahim Andang Jr as the designated representative of Bangsamoro Darul Ifta for Sugoda Buayan, encompassing the city of General Santos and the municipalities of Malungon, Alabel, Malapatan, and Glan in Sarangani province.
Sheikh Ibrahim Andang Jr, the current chairman of MRAC, received the appointment on Friday, March 8, 2024. A distinguished graduate in Islamic Jurisprudence from the Islamic University of Madinah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Ibrahim brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his new role.

Beyond his educational background, Sheikh Ibrahim has been an influential figure within the Islamic community. Serving as the chairman of MRAC, an association of Islamic scholars in General Santos City, he plays a pivotal role in advising the local government on matters concerning the Bangsamoro constituents.

In addition to his responsibilities with MRAC, Sheikh Ibrahim is actively involved in various peace advocacy initiatives within the city. He serves as a resource person for topics related to Islam and Muslims during interfaith dialogues and peace forums.
Sheikh Ibrahim Andang Jr also holds the position of Director at the Educational Research Center, focusing on guiding individuals who have recently converted to Islam. The center is also dedicated to fostering understanding among people of different faiths within the city.
