BLMI, SIAPAHAN conduct community dialogue in Zamboanga City Coastal villages

The Bangsamoro Leadership and Management Institute (BLMI) in partnership with Southern Islamic Action for Prosperity and Harmony Network (SIAPAHAN), a local Non- Government Organization (NGO) in Zamboanga City conducted a one-day community dialogue in the city’s two Moro coastal areas.

The objective of the activity was to enhance community leaders’ understanding of the GPH-MILF Peace Accord and the gains of peace process.

The first engagement was held at the East Coast Barangay Sangali in the morning of August 07 and at West Coast Barangay Tulungatung in the afternoon of the same day.

The participants were mostly Moro Fisher folks who eagerly wanted to be apprised of the peace tract under the new administration.

Mr. Macksu Magang, SIAPAHAN Senior officer and well-versed in Moro history and struggle said, “The Bangsamoro people are just reasserting their identity and rights over their homeland that were deprived and illegally taken from them through state policies which led to the marginalization of the entire Moro people”.

Tirso Tahir, Chief of BLMI Research Unit gave updates on GPH-MILF Peace process and other related issues. He also encouraged the Moro Community Leaders to actively participate and engage in Peace-Building activities and advocacies in their respective communities as their inherent political and civil rights cannot be abridged by anyone.

“The level of Moros expectations under the Duterte administration is very high due to his strong political will in resolving the Moro issue. He vowed to resolve the historical injustices committed against the Moro people through the continuity of the peace process”, Tahir said.

His consistence pronouncement on “Historical injustices” committed by the neocolonialists to the Moros in Mindanao has cooling effect on the Bangsamoro by pinning-up their hope on new Administration that the Moro decade’s problem can be sealed-off through the implementation of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB)

Tahir highlighted some related issues and concerns on the aspect of unity and good-fellowship among Moro people. Both Mr. Magang and Tahir clarified the issues discernably and cited some verses from Noble Qur’an related to the undertaking.

“And hold fast, all together, by the rope which Allah (stretches out for you), and be not divided among yourselves;” (Surah Al ‘Imran - 3:103)

“You are the best community (Ummah) raised up for (the benefit of) humanity; enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong and believing in Allah;” (Surah Al ‘Imran - 3:110)
