Duterte orders DA Sec. Piñol to release P300M for farmers in Maguindanao, Sultan Kudarat

In his recent visit to Buluan in Maguindanao , President Rodrigo Duterte  ordered Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol to release an initial P300 million for farmers in oil palm plantations in Maguindanao and Sultan Kudarat.

Pres. Duterte said that Maguindanao and Sultan Kudarat will be given priority being among the country’s poorest provinces.

 “This is better than killing each other. What can we get from violence? You cannot defeat the government,” Duterte said in his speech as quoted by Philstar.

“If we can remove violence out of this, we won’t have any problem,” he added.

Duterte said that federalism that he proposes for the country in lieu of the existing unitary form of government would bring change to Mindanao and the rest of the country.

“Many investors will come in, because of the fertility of the soil and the fact that there is no typhoon to destroy the cycle of crops”, the Star quoting Duterte saying.
