Stakeholders hold Islamic symposium in Kabuntalan

Various stakeholders with the support of Kalilintad Peace Building Institute (KPI) and the Federation of Bangsamoro Civil Society Organization (FBCSO) held Islamic Symposium on October 30 at Madrasah Tut-Tarbiya Al-Islamiya, Barangay Dadtumeg, Mother Kabuntalan, Maguindanao.

The activity formally opened with a recitation of some verses of the Noble Qur’an by Al-Khari Sheik Abas Esmael.

Datu Tungco Batua warmly welcomed the guests and participants and emphasized to them the importance of education, unity and development at all times.
Kabuntalan Municipal Councilor, Datu Sukor Alamada said “Dunya (Earth) is full of both sweetness and bitterness that can make a Muslim go astray but let us aspire to walk on the right path by learning more about Islam and understand the current state of Bangsamoro Peace Process.

Guest Speaker Sheik Mohalidin Musa started his message by asking as “Muslims what are the good deeds that we can contribute to our struggle? “Our struggle requires financial and physical efforts so that the rich one shall share their wealth to this struggle and the able-bodied shall join physically. One should not value more their wealth too much as they can never bring them to their grave.  He encouraged both the wealthy and the poor to spend their money wisely no matter how big or small it is, it’s the effort that counts more when one is engaged in a struggle”.

On the other hand, learning values and manifesting on how we can use our mind to contribute to the Bangsamoro struggle towards the Right to Self-Determination are equally important. Learning does not only require going to school and age do not matter either.  Musa also said.

 “If you can do good deeds today, make it even better tomorrow. Avoid having luxurious lifestyle”, he added.

Prof. Esmael  A. Abdula ,Executive Director KPI and a member of the Steering Committee of Bangsamoro Leadership and Management Institute (BLMI) gave updates on the GPH- MILF Peace Process.
Prof. Abdula said in his opening statement mentioned the guidelines and principle left to us (Bangsamaoro) by the late MILF Chairman Sheikh Salamat Hashim (Allaaho Rahaam) contained his Book Bangsamoro Mujahid: His Objectives and Responsibilities.

In the said book, Sheikh Hashim said ” Every individual Baangsamoro must realize that we are engaged in a life  and death battle, a battle for survival, which poses formidable threat of extinction to our Islamic heritage and place our very existence at stake…  Basically, a Mujahid and a true believer must possess steadfast Iman (faith) and fundamental knowledge of Islam, a clear understanding of the cause of Jihad, techniques and strategies in pursuing Jihad…

“Peace negotiation is one of the diplomatic means of achieving the Bangsamoro’s right to self-determination. The International community recognizes the MILF as a Non-State Armed Actor that represents the Bangsamoro people”, Abdula stressed,

“We need to uphold and ensure that the gains of the peace process are preserved. That CAB is among our gains as it is the fruit of our struggle for freedom and right to self-determination”, Abdula also emphasized.

Resource speaker Nasser Pulindao, FBCSO Vice-President said, “Federalism is the priority of the Duterte Administration,   but the position of the MILF is to implement first the Comprehensive Agreement on Bangsamoro (CAB) and  pass the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL)”.

 “That Bangsamoro people demand the immediate passage of the BBL as the reflection of their identity as people with distinct culture, tradition and way of life as Muslims before shifting to a federal form of government”, Pulindao emphasized.

Some speakers were Engr. Nerie Pagayaw, Datu Taya Mentang Barangay Councilor of Dadtumeg, Mother Kabuntalan  , Datu Dawi Daniel ,Datu Mindatu Malasigan Former Municipal Councilor of Kabuntalan Municipality, and Sheik Muslimin Zackaria.
