CHaPC, Negosyo Center joins 2016 Banana Congress

The Community Halal Producers Cooperative (CHaPC) in partnership with DTI-Negosyo Center Kidapawan City joined as one of the exhibitors during the Banana Congress 2016 with the theme “New Frontiers for Inclusive Industry Growth” held at the SMX Convention Center, SM Lanang Premier, Davao City, on October 6-8, 2016. 

The congress aims for the convergence of industry leaders, policy makers, allied industry players and shareholders to deliberate on solution-driven initiatives toward attaining tangible outcomes to sustain the gains of the industry. It was also the intent of the activity to provide participants with new industry development outlook particularly on various industry concerns.

Multi-national companies, banana chips processors and leaders in the farming industry in Mindanao participated in the said congress including banana buyers, financiers, and traders from China, Japan and Malaysia. It was also attended by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte with Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol.

Business Counselor Manuel Jayme of DTI-Negosyo Center Kidapawan City helped facilitated the cooperative to promote marketing of their products and services and to find out possible financing program packages for banana production and other agricultural products produced by small-time farmer-members.

Available supply of banana tissue culture, fresh giant banana cardava or saba fruits, Cavendish, Lacatan, Latondan, Señorita and processed banana chips including organic foliar fertilizers were among the agricultural products exhibited by the cooperative.   

CHaPC Chairperson Laguialaot interestingly participated in the exhibits and extended their sincerest thanks to the PHILEXPORT, the main organizer and urged DTI Negosyo Center program to open up a window for the cooperative’s possible marketing options of their products.
