September 28, 2012 News: Unidentified gunmen have killed a top village official and injured another in an ambush in the hinterlands of Zamboanga Sibugay province, a report reaching Luwaran said.
The report disclosed that the incident took place at Purok Mangga in the village of Bangco, Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay province last September 25.
Titay is a 5th class municipality in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, with a population of about 40,000.
The slain government village official as Alberto Arabia, 40, the village chief of Marcelo, Kalawit town, Zamboanga del Norte Province, and the wounded companion as Ernie Sumaylo, also a resident of the same village and town.
Investigation showed that Arabia was driving a motorcycle with Sumaylo on their way home when they were ambushed by three unidentified gunmen in a dark and secluded area in Bangco village, Titay town.
Arabia, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds, died on the spot while Sumaylo survived although sustaining two bullet wounds.
Motive behind the fatal shooting is not yet established.
