Poll watchers, assistors for BOL Plebiscite undergo orientation

Mamasapano Maguindanao -The United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP)- Maguindanao oriented poll watchers, and assistors for January 21 plebiscite to ratify the Bangsamoro Organic law (BOL) on December 6, this town.

UBJP Maguindanao Secretary Rahib Payapat told the participants to vote ‘Yes’ to BOL to realize the Moro long-dream for lasting peace in Mindanao. Once ratified, the BOL will put in place the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) to replace the current ARMM.

Payapat also emphasized that there must be protection of votes during the plebiscite, and UBJP members including BOL supporters must be watchful of all the process to avoid unnecessary acts, including cheating by those who oppose the BOL.

Payapat added that international and local non-government organizations, the media both local and international, members of European Union who will send in the monitors, Bangsamoro Free Election Movement, and other organization will observe and monitor the conduct of plebiscite.

Mohammad Thong Paglas, Vice Mayor of Datu Paglas Maguindanao, reiterated that the Local Government is supportive of the plebiscite, and assured the Yes vote to win in Datu Paglas. 

The Vice Mayor told the participants that despite that the plebiscite falls on “market day”, the local government declared it as holiday to ensure that all registered voters can go to the precincts. 

Professor Esmael ‘Mike’ A. Abdula, Chairman of Media and documentation of UBJP-Maguindanao, said, “the struggle of Bangsamoro that started from bullets shall transform into ballots, and peace-loving Bangsamoro shall cast the yes votes on plebiscite day.”

Abdula emphasized “our last battle now is in the precincts where we must vote yes for the ratification of Bangsamoro Organic Law. 

Sheikh Abdulkadir Abdullah, Deputy Chairman of UBJP Maguindanao said in his message, “Our vote for yes is for the future of the young generation of Bangsamoro. This is the fruit of more than four decades of Bangsamoro struggle, the struggle of the Mujahideen who spent their time, and wealth for the coming generation.

Abdullah emphasized that by voting yes for BOL will result to long-lasting peace in Mindanao. He further emphasized that, “the establishment of Bangsamoro Authonomous Government is undoubtedly seen as the ultimate gain as we have seen the joint efforts of our friends in the political sector, the ulama, and our beloved families in promoting the yes to BOL.

The UBJP Maguindanao has been conducting series of orientation of poll watchers and assistors for BOL Plebiscite in the 36 municipalities of Maguindanao Province.

The UBJP had already conducted 16 municipalities, namely; Buluan, Pandag, Mangudadatu, General Salipada k. Pendatun, Paglat, Montawal, Sharif Aguak, Barira, BUldon, Matanog, Parang, Datu Paglas and Mamasapano Maguindanao.
