BARMM Project TABANG benefits Thousands of Bangsamoro in North Cotabato

COTABATO CITY – Thousands of Bangsamoro residents in North Cotabato most particularly from the 63 Barangays of the province who opted to join the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) have benefitted from the “Project Tulong Alay sa mga Bangsamorong Nangangailangan” (TABANG) of BARMM Chief Minister Ahod ‘Al Haj Murad’ Ebrahim held at Pikit Municipal Plaza Sunday, December 22. Said program was supported by various ministries of the region.

The said program aims for the Bangsamoro government become closer to the public .TABANG’ is a Maguindanaon term for ‘help’.  

Ebrahim said that the Project TABANG is the first engagement of the Bangsamoro Government in the municipality since its inclusion to the Bangsamoro region.

“What makes today’s TABANG special is how historic this engagement is — our first engagement in this town as part of the BARMM. And just like our gratitude last plebiscite, we are grateful for your continuous support during this transition period. In our end, we assure you that we will not let go of your trust, in Shaa Allah (if Allah wills),” Ebrahim said.

The chief Minister underscored that the leadership and government must be brought to the people so that the community will feel the direct services of Bangsamoro government.

“Ang gobyerno natin ay dadalhin namin mismo dito sa inyo, nang sa gayon ay hindi na kayo mahihirapang pumunta doon sa amin,” Ebrahim said before the crowd in Pikit.

The beneficiaries were from the municipalities of Pikit, Pigkawayan, Midsayap, Aleosan, Kabacan, and Carmen  who received free services that includes medical and dental services, eye check-up and provision of eye glasses by the Ministry of Health (MOH), scholarship programs and school supplies by the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE), food packs and supplementary feeding from the Ministry of Social Services (MSS), distribution of farming tools and plant seed from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR), and other services.

“Project TABANG is among of the special projects of the Office of interim Chief Minister and the Bangsamoro Government that aims to bring immediate, and direct services to the Bangsamoro who are in need, particularly those who are in calamity and conflict-stricken community,” Abdulrauf Macacua, BARMM Chief of Staff explained. 

It is the fourth activity undertaken by the BARMM government after the launching in Cotabato City and Maguindanao, followed by Marawi City, and Lanao del Sur, and in Simunul, Tawi-Tawi.

Ebrahim announced during the program in Pikit that the same project will be conducted in the provinces of Basilan and Sulu by 2020.

Meantime, in support to the flagship program of the Office of BARMM Chief Minister Ebrahim, the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) headed by Minister Mohagher M. Iqbal have distributed scholarship grants to select students, 100 teachers kit, 1000 traditional madrasah kit, 1500 learners kit, and dental services. 

About 100 individuals have also undergone blood pressure check-up, dishwashing demo making, and provision.

Mayor Sumulong K. Sultan of Pikit Cotabato along with his constituents had extended their thanks, and gratitude to the Bangsamoro Government for bringing the various assistance to the Province of Cotabato.
