BIAF-MILF condemns brutal killing of 8 Moros in Kabacan

The Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF) – Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) condemned the killing of eight (8) individuals in Kabacan, Cotabato at around 12:20 in the afternoon on August 29, 2020.
In a statement, BIAF – MILF Chief of Staff Sammy Al Mansoor said BIAF joins the Bangsamoro in mourning and condemning the massacre of defenseless Muslims using high powered firearms in broad daylight in a provincial road in Kabacan, Cotabato Province.

The BIAF chief added “This again reminds us of the dark period in our not so recent past, when the Bangsamoro people were besieged and beleaguered in their very own ancestral homeland, by forces who are privileged with impunity and assured of unbridled movement in the senseless and brutal murder of unarmed civilians.”

“Multiple murder at high noon in a provincial road intimates confidence that no one will stop them, and no one will run after them,” Al Mansoor said.

He added that the BIAF has supported the peace negotiations of the MILF “with the belief that those days and crimes committed against our people and communities are simply but bitter memories.”

“BIAF has in fact committed to support the normalization process that will put our weapons beyond use, because of the belief that our people and communities will be ably protected and secured by our state forces,” he said.

The BIAF chief said their organization is also educating and convincing their communities that with the signing of the Comprehensive Agreement on the. Bangsamoro, their “communities will be safe and peaceful.”

He said BIAF will ask the National Bureau of Investigation to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation of the tragic incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Al Mansoor said BIAF is hopeful that the pursuit operation, if any, of the PNP will yield some positive result that can contribute to the speedy and just resolution of these cases.
