Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity  (OPAPRU) Secretary Carlito G. Galvez, Jr. reaffirmed the national government’s unwavering commitment to the Bangsamoro peace process, as the country marked the 11th anniversary of the signing of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) on March 27, 2025.

The CAB, signed on March 27, 2014, between the Philippine government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), paved the way for greater autonomy and lasting peace in the Bangsamoro region. Galvez emphasized that the agreement represents the collective aspirations of the Bangsamoro people and is a major step forward in achieving peace based on inclusivity, equality, and justice.

The message, posted on the official Facebook page of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) on March 27, highlighted the significance of the upcoming first regular parliamentary elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), describing it as a key milestone in fulfilling the political roadmap of the CAB.

“This exercise in democracy is a step toward full political autonomy for the Bangsamoro,” Galvez said, noting that the elections will allow the people of the region to choose leaders who genuinely represent their hopes and ideals.

He also extended his appreciation to the MILF leadership and various peace stakeholders—including local governments, civil society groups, religious leaders, the academe, and the security sector—for their continued collaboration and support in sustaining peace efforts.

Galvez concluded with a call for unity under the Marcos administration’s banner of nation-building, urging all sectors to protect the hard-won gains of the peace process and work together for a peaceful and progressive future for the Bangsamoro and the rest of the country.
