MILF focal persons to UNICEF pay courtesy visit to camp Bilal

COTABATO CITY. May 9, 2018. The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) focal persons to United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) led by its Team Leader Sheik Abdulhadie Gumander paid courtesy visit to Camp Bilal at Lanao del Sur on May 4, 2018.

The visiting delegation was received by Haj Abdullah Macapaar known as " Commander Bravo ", the MILF North Western Mindanao Front Commander, and MILF 102nd Base Commander Ustadz Abu Haneef Salindawan. 

After the courtesy visit, the focal persons also paid courtesy call to Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF) Front Commanders Jannati Mimbantas of North Eastern Mindanao Front, Deputy Commander Malik Caril of Western Mindanao Front and Saifullah Khan of Central Mindanao Front. 

The purpose of the visit is to brief the MILF Front Commanders on the on-going intervention of MILF - UNICEF - CFSI program on the protection of children and their families affected by armed conflict as mandated in the UN - MILF Action Plan. 

The said visit is also a directive coming from BIAF Chief of Staff Sammy Al-Mansoor through Toks Ibrahim, the BIAF Administrative Officer.

Sheik Gumander explained that there were already 100 MILF Para Social Workers who have undergone the training under the UN - MILF program.

He further explained that the MILF Para Social Workers will monitor and help track 1,869 disengaged children and their families.

He requested the front commanders to allow the MILF Para Social Workers to do their mandate by giving them access to their respective camps. 

 Commander Bravo for and in behalf of the front commanders expressed their gratitude for the visit and gave his commitment and support to the program. 

The focal persons who accompanied Sheik Gumander were Ustadz Marhan Borhan, Engr. Aida Silongan, Magda Madato, Focal Secretary Nemia Nando, and CFSI Staff from Marawi City, and Iligan City.
