House of Representatives majority blocks hold caucuses on BBL passage

QUEZON CITY. May 23, 2018. House Speaker Pantaleon “Bebot” Alvarez, and House Majority Floor Leader Rodolfo Farinas held caucuses with the majority blocks and Deputy Speakers of Congress on the passage of the HB 6475 (BBL) on the afternoon of May 21 (Monday) and in the morning of May 22 (Tuesday) with the members of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission led by its Chair Ghazali Jaafar, and MILF Peace Implementing Panel Chair Mohagher Iqbal.

The aim of the caucuses was to settle issues once and for all that may hamper the immediate passage of BBL which resulted to positive response to the members of the majority blocks and to the members of the BTC, and MILF Peace Implementing Panel (PIP). 

During the conversation of the delegation of the different Bangsamoro Civil Society Organizations (CSO"s) with the leader of the Visayan Block, Rep. Alfredo Abelardo " Albee " Benitez of 3rd District of Negros Occidental made an assurance that their 42 members are supportive to the passage of HB 6475 (BBL) and considered it " done deal. "

Likewise, when the same CSO delegation visited the office of Deputy Speaker Bai Sandra Sema, she narrated what have transpired during their caucuses and explained that everything is settled and agreed upon.     

So, as not to pre-empt their initiatives on the issues of HB 6475 (BBL), the Luwaran choose not to discuss the same.       

According to one member of the House of Representatives (name withheld), that by May 25 (Friday) both Houses of Congress are already settled for their final draft, and by May 28 (Monday), a Bicameral Conference will be held, and by end of this month they can already submit it to the President for signing.
